Let me be your Birth Sherpa, guiding and supporting you and your partner during the adventurous path that is pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and beyond!
1st Steps and a Brief Summary of Services
Book a consult.
-Free for self-pay clients and covered by Medicaid/Insurance (counts as one of your allowed visits, click here for more info)
-Consultations provide an opportunity to address your questions regarding myself and doula care in general, assisting you in determining if doula care is appropriate for you, and if we are a suitable match.
-You can either click book a consult or reach out via e-mail or text (507-210-1655). Please include your name, your partner's name if applicable and information about your estimated due date and your chosen birthing location. If you are undecided, we can discuss this together and offer you my thoughts and recommendations! Also, let me know whether you want to use insurance coverage or choose a self-pay package. *I accept Medicaid via Blue Plus, Ucare and South Country Health Alliance. I am also contracted with Medica and United Healthcare. Call the number on the back of your insurance card to make sure doula coverage is covered by your plan. If you have any other insurance provider and you are being told that your plan covers doula care, reach out to me to ask me to apply as a provider. Please reach out early, as that process can take up to 60-90 days depending on the company.
Information gathering/Contract signing/Appointment Scheduling
-Sign the contract, fill out the intake form, and other applicable forms (insurance/massage, etc.).
- Schedule prenatal appointments, massage appointments as dictated by package/insurance. (Massages not covered by insurance)
-All prenatal appointments are done in-office unless you are willing to pay extra, generous costs for the travel and extra time and energy required, amount to be determined by the provider after discussing options.
Birth Attendance/Immediate postpartum support
-I will join you in labor when you decide you want the extra support and stay at least an hour or two after birth, as best as I am able. We will discuss this more during prenatal visits.
-First option in the unlikely event that I can't make it to your birth is that I will arrange a backup doula to the best of my ability for self-pay clients (I will provide compensation for the backup doula). This is unfortunately not an option for insurance clients until I can find other doulas nearby that accept insurance. Are you a doula who accepts insurance? Contact me! Other options include virtual support and additional postpartum support, if possible. This is something we will discuss as needed.
-Birth Doulas offer informational, emotional, and physical non-medical support for both you and your partner.
Postpartum Visits
-Held in office unless I agree to extended in-home postpartum support. Only available with birth support and locally. Insurance-covered in-home postpartum care is only offered for two hours per visit. Self-pay clients pay hourly with a 4-hour minimum.
